Care

The Queen® Kalanchoë trademark is one of the most lasting blooming potted plants, and it is moreover incredibly easy to take care of. Should be placed in a sunny position, but can also grow in direct sunlight or in darkness (Desert Surprise always have to be placed in a light position). If it is placed in direct sunlight, the leaves become reddish, and the colour of the flowers intensifies. It can also do without light, but this will make the colour of the flowers fade and slightly reduce longetivity. During winter it thrives in a light environment.

It should be watered moderately and prefers some withering between waterings. Kalanchoë can stand heavy withering, but very often this will accelerate the flowering. If you forget to water it, the thick leaves of the plant act as water resources. Fertiliser is not necessary.

When ceasing to flower you can try to make the plant flower again. The best result is obtained by applying blackout for at least 14 hours per day for 4 to 6 weeks.
