Using any Kalanchoe interspecific hybrid in a breeding program, crossing and selecting hybrids with at least 5 petals from breeding work where Kalanchoe interspecific hybrids have been used as a parent are covered by United States Patent No. 7,453,032 (granted) and 7,847,150 (granted).

Queen® Kalanchoe RoseFlowers® and Queen® Kalanchoe African® RoseFlowers® and Queen® Kalanchoe MoreFlowers® and Queen® Kalanchoe CutFlowers varieties with more than 35 petals are Kalanchoe laciniata hybrids thus covered by European Patent No. EP1671536 (granted).

Method for prolonging the longevity of cut flowers

Described is a method to provide an aqueous nutrient medium for keeping cut flowers with elongated freshness, as well as a method to confer a prolonged longevity to one or more cut flowers, comprising the step of allowing the said one or more cut flowers, with the cut surface of the stem thereof, to be in contact with the said aqueous nutrient medium. Further, a composition of cut flowers having prolonged longevity is described.

The Patent protects a method for prolonging the longevity of cut flowers.  Production, use, offering and selling mixed bouquets in which one or more cut flowers belonging to the genus Kalanchoe are combined with one or more cut flowers belonging to a genus different from Kalanchoe are covered by the above mentioned patents for “Bouquet of Cut Flowers” and “Method for prolonging the longevity of cut flowers”..

Described are plants of specific genera for ornamental use, as field crop species, for food extracts, cosmetics, perfumes or as medicinal plants, comprising one or more genes derived from Agrobacterium rhizogenes. Further disclosed are methods for the preparation of such plants. Said plants display an intermediate height and/or with a higher content of metabolites without significant reduction of flower number or flowering time delay as compared to control plants void of Agrobacterium rhizogenes sequences. The current invention, according to a first aspect, is related to a receiving device adapted to receive a potted plant or a bunch of cut flowers. The receiving device is especially suitable as a package device for the purpose of transport, handling and presentation of a potted plant or a bunch of cut flowers received therein. The receiving device comprises a bottom element and a side wall, the bottom element comprising a plate-like bottom wall with a circular contour and an upright wall extending conically outwards from the bottom element, and has a resistance to deformation and elastic properties in the radial direction. The side wall of the receiving device is made of plastics, or cardboard, especially cardboard provided with a water repellent material, especially of a plastic or cardboard blank. The side wall comprises a support opening in the half of the side wall that directs away from the bottom element, which support opening is adapted to allow fingers of a person to be inserted for carrying the receiving device. The side wall is provided with a weakened line, which at least substantially extends transverse to the bottom wall and/or in the extension thereof, a tear lip is provided.
